Communication technology in 2024 is vastly different from the times of Morse, Bell and Co! From the invention of the telegraph in the 19th century to the proliferation of smartphones and the Internet, these advancements have had profound impacts on society.  Let's begin with the telegraph, invented by Samuel Morse in the 1830s. This device revolutionized long-distance communication by allowing messages to be sent quickly over wires using Morse code. The telephone, introduced by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876, further advanced communication by enabling voice transmission. The 20th century saw the rise of radio and television, which transformed mass communication. Radio became a vital tool during World War II for both military coordination and public information dissemination. Television emerged in the mid-20th century, becoming a primary source of news and entertainment.

The launch of the first artificial satellite, Sputnik 1, by the Soviet Union in 1957 marked the beginning of satellite communication. Satellites enabled global broadcasting and paved the way for modern GPS and weather forecasting systems.

The Internet Revolution

Mobile Technology

The first mobile phone call was made by Martin Cooper of Motorola in 1973. Since then, mobile phones have evolved from bulky devices into sleek smartphones with advanced features. Smartphones integrate various communication technologies, including voice calls, text messaging, email, video calls, and social media apps. They also offer access to a vast array of Internet services through mobile browsers and dedicated apps.
